Principal
Dear HMSC Families,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 School year! I am honored to continue as principal of the High School at Moorpark College and excited to welcome your child(ren) back to class. Prior to my appointment three years ago as your principal, I served as Principal of Chaparral Middle School. Before coming to MUSD, I served the students of Pleasant Valley School District as classroom teacher, teacher on special assignment, dean, and assistant principal. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in History from UCLA, a Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California. I am a 34-year resident of Moorpark and have two children who attended Moorpark schools before they entered college.
This year is an exciting time to be a Phoenix. The HMSC teachers and staff have been working hard to prepare for your child’s arrival and we are excited to see them the first day of school, August 7, 2023.
Following is important information pertaining to the start of the school year. We thank you in advance for your support of these procedures.
Back to School Night: Join us for Back to School Night on August 22, 2023 at 6:00 pm. This is an informative evening and gives you a chance to meet your child’s teachers.
Parent Help: Research has demonstrated that parental involvement is a key factor in student success. It is also a great opportunity to have a voice in your child’s education. We need parents to participate in the following:
PSSA: Please join and become involved. The support of the PSSA is critical to the success of CMS, please join and continue this wonderful partnership.
School Site Council: Join me in reviewing the goals and funding for Chaparral Middle School. We will be meeting periodically throughout the year, watch for more information coming in the future.
For more information on becoming involved, please contact me at soplustic@mrpk.org.
This is going to be a fabulous year of learning. I look forward to partnering with you in your child’s education and getting to know you and your child. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Shirleen Oplustic, Ed.D.
